The Archive

Roles: Designer
Timeline: Four Weeks
Tools: Figma, Spreadsheets

What can our habits say about us? Whether it’s the way someone twirls their hand before pushing their glasses up or how someone instinctively reaches for their stomach when they laugh, our habits often reveal more than we realize. The Archive is an interactive data visualization that transforms six weeks of my music listening habits into an explorable archive of this particular period of my life.

Building on the ideas explored in Boku no Jinsei, this project expands on the idea that listening to music is more than a habit for me. It is a way to passively record who I was and who I am becoming. Sometimes for the lyrical meaning, sometimes for the late-night vibes, sometimes for headlining an impromptu concert in my kitchen, music has always been a huge part of my life.

Rather than documenting the songs themselves, this project explores how patterns revealed through everyday listening can be transformed into an interactive data visualization. At this stage, the emphasis was on designing the experience rather than allowing the music itself to become the narrative.

The experience unfolds across multiple interactive screens, allowing you to navigate the data much like a personal archive rather than a boring spreadsheet. The main dataset is divided into four sections: Act (Group or Solo), Genre, Language, and Play Method, which guide the experience.

While this project began as an exploration of interactivity, it revealed an opportunity that I still want to pursue. I’d like to revisit this archive one day and let the songs tell the story, not just the interface that organizes them.
